Doze...Beep beep beep or more realistically, the sounds of the Amelie film soundtrack on my phone as its alarm sets off to wake me should I have found the ability to actually still be asleep by then (hardly likely)!
The different in our week was far more entertaining and much more spontaneous!
Two of our favourite activities that resulted in fits of laughter were pillow fights and trumpeting as loudly as possible using a fine-tuned musical...funnel! Another favourite, with more lasting effects, was gingerbread cookie making and decorating. Yum!
Pillow Fights - I have to admit that these were a huge amount of childish fun. The kind of fun where you let go of age-ist behaviour and just play rough like the kids love best. It relieves energy in everyone and expels tensions. This was a particularly successful afterschool game (refer to discussion for need of these for Romeo under the 'Diane Levy' section of my Inspire Me page). I particularly enjoyed the pillow fights with Romeo because they were much more rough and boisterous - as he so dearly loves (particularly so in being of the XY gender)! I am able to be more myself in games with Romeo now as he has learned how to play games properly (and well no less!) and has the physical ability to take care of himself more in rougher games.
The pillow fighting was a blur of smiles, laughter, and total hysterics (from both sides).
It's the simple things people...I think we all know that oftentimes it's the paper that wins out over the present with littlies! Well this theory certainly applies to the humble old plastic kitchen funnel because hear ye! hear ye! huge fits of giggles were had by Princess Persia - and her huge grins of delight were infectious!
Camping in the lounge, cookie-making, and general play - also most excellent modern-Tom-Sawyer-on-a-cold-wintery-day-inside-adventures:
Taking advantage of those moments - happy memories in the making.
